ColonyTrack is 22 years of engineering combined with a real passion for beekeeping and a clear idea of what a field tool should actually do.
I'm Bogdan. 22 years across engineering, ecommerce, email, marketing, and gaming. I've shipped products at every scale, worked on every kind of team, and built systems that had to work the first time. Beekeeping is where all of that met a passion I couldn't stop thinking about. I'm working toward my UC Davis Master Beekeeper certification.
ColonyTrack started as a personal challenge: can I build a complete end-to-end solution myself, combining everything I know? Not just the software but the hardware too. 3D modeling, printing, CNC machining, embedded tech. The NFC hive mounts in the shop are designed and built by me.
There are other beekeeping apps out there, some around for over a decade. I'm not building against them. I built this the way I think it should work, shaped by how I inspect my own hives and what I wish I had in the field. That's the whole reason.
If it resonates with you, let's grow it together. If something doesn't feel right, tell me and we'll keep tweaking until it does. The product evolves with the people using it. That's exactly how I want it.
A field record you can use with gloves on, in the sun, with bees around. Guided inspections that ask what to look at instead of handing you a blank form. Voice dictation when your hands are full. A QR or NFC sticker on each hive, so the right record is one tap away. Charts for varroa, colony strength and brood. A history you can read at a glance and export whenever you like.
It does not diagnose your colony. It will not tell you what disease you are looking at, and it will not tell you what to put in your hive. No formulations, no doses, no application schedules, because for a registered treatment the label is the law and it is not ours to rewrite. Where a label sets a window, the app counts it for you. The rest is yours.
Beekeeping advice is not in short supply. Reliable records are. A tool that starts telling you what your colony has will eventually be confidently wrong at the worst possible moment, and after that you stop trusting any of it. So this one measures and remembers, and leaves the judgement where it belongs. What it does do is show you the picture: what you saw, when, and what has changed since.
Software, hardware, and field ops designed together as one thing, not bolted on as an afterthought.
Every decision is made with gloves on, in the sun, with bees flying around. Not at a desk.
In a world that gatekeeps every record, we give you the option to leave and take your work with you. Export everything, any time, no paywall. Your inspection history belongs to you.
The product evolves based on what real beekeepers experience. Every release is informed by the people using it.
